Guwahati: Three members of a family were killed, and another was injured in a landslide in Assam’s Guwahati on Tuesday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Mathgharia area of the city while the family members were sleeping in their house, a senior police officer said.
“A couple and their daughter died in the landslide. The bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem. The couple’s son was injured and admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital,” he said.
Incessant rain since early Tuesday is suspected to have triggered the landslide, the official said.
Local residents said the man worked as a daily-wage labourer and that the family had been living in the area with their 2 minor children for several years.
